Carl Craig Workout Party Mix (Planet E) Carl Craig's back into the DJ booth: he's just released a double mix CD, "Work Out". Here's the sound of the launch party at Bridge & Tunnel. Ptr Lo Fi Adventures (Wsound) Ptr is a dutch DJ whose offering us a sweet fresh laidback mix of today's blending styles that are best known as nu-soul, nu-jazz, lo-fi and some broken beats. Enjoy ! Dego Versatile Soul Mix (Talkin Loud) It's hard to say it all, Dego has done so much in electronic music. The junglist sound, at first, then the broken beat scene which he initiated. The new 4 Hero album, "Creating Patterns", is out now on Talkin Loud. This mix is the last from the Versatile Family Party in Paris. Rainer Trüby Radio Show (Compost) Rainer Trüby is a true master of electro latino muzak. This is his third mix for us, with sounds from Compost and elsewhere. The Trüby Trio album is set for 2002. King Britt Family Mix (Versatile) Straight from Philadelphia, King Britt's housey / sexy set, recorded live at the last Versatile Family Party, aint no joke. Check out his BBE album in the month to come. Didier Allyne Traffic Mix (Traffic Records) If you needed a closer view of what blending means, you're gonna have to listen to dis. As we put it, this is the best set on our website. And when you know he hasnt got decks at home ! Zero 7 Smooth Mix (Ultimate Dilemma) New kids on the Ultimate Dilemma block, Zero 7 make a very smooth music, with some groove going behind. This mix has impressed a lot of people : don't wait to listen to it. Gilles Peterson called them the english "Air" ... Maas Small Change Mix (Soma) Ewan Pearson also calls himself Maas or World of Apples. He's the most interesting artist to come from Soma, as his compilation "Small Change" and this burning tech house mix puts it. David Mancuso Live at Respect (Nuphonic) The resident of the Loft in NYC back in the seventies has still a good sense of the floor, as he proved on his last trip in Paris. This mix was recorded at a Secret party on the Champs Elysees, at the end of last year. OK : he didnt actually sleep in the club but the magic is still there. As you can hear. And for more information, check the reviews of The Loft et The Loft 2. Jazzanova Radio Show (Compost) Intuitive electro soul from Berlin's most wanted crew Jazzanova. LP "In Between" in may 2002 and the interview is here ! Tom Middleton Jedi live (Universal Language) Half of Jedi Knights, Global Communication, Reload and Link (all with Mark Pritchard), Tom Middleton records now on his own under the new Kosmos banner, for Blue recordings. This set was recorded in Paris, at the Rex Club, at the monthly “The Sound” party in november. And watch out for the new Jedi Knights comp and the Cosmos album ... Alex Attias Visions Mix (Visions) The London based swiss-moroccan Alex Attias is one of Wsound favourite producers. And we might have waited a little while for this mix, but it was definetly worthit. The owner of the Visions label, offers a dynamic West London style mix, with half underground classics (like Victor Duplaix’s Manhood) and upcoming tracks, a cocktail of rare beats and spaced out grooves. Check out his last single “Plutonia” for another proof, and read his interview. Gilb-R Live mix 06/2000 (Versatile) DJ Gilb R is one of the best French djs. First involved in hip hop, then house and drum & bass, Gilb R has just finished his first album “Puzzle” with I Cube, under the name Château Flight (and you can hear some of it in ths set !). Always exploring new directions, but not in the usual way. This mix made especially for Wsound just fits perfectly a summer afternoon. And we all know you can find summertime in your mind whenever. Try this, it will help concentrate. Herbert Radio Magimix (Lifelike) We all know the Dr Rockit, aka Mathhew Herbert, can make a kitchen sound funky. But as you will discover by listening to this mix made for the radio, which contains excerpts of his new compilation “Junior Doctor Rockit”, he’s actually come out of his house and is off on the streets. And armed (with his sampler) he can be real dangerous ! Also on Wsound, his interview and the review of his last album. Josh Wink Live in Paris (Ovum) Josh Wink is an international recognized dj. This mix was recorded live in a party near Paris earlier this year and features a mixture of old and new tracks dancefloor orientated. Not the kind of stuff you would hear on Ovum, home of the true electro soul don King Britt. One for the techno freaks. |
