In the Electronica mix
A great selection of tracks by Benwa, including some gems of electronica from artists like Global Communication, Autechre, Andrea Parker, Two Lone Swordmen ... Just relax and enjoy the trip.
This is electro funk biting your ears. Chris de Luca from Funkstörung has skills as a dj, and you need them to bring together some of the fucked up beats he throws in there. These German guys call themselves ‘funk distortion’, and you will not wonder anymore after listening to this. Their album "Appetite For Destruction", after acclaimed remixes of Bjork and the Wu Tang Clan, came out earlier this year on Studio K7. Also check out their interview.
We all know the Dr Rockit, aka Mathhew Herbert, can make a kitchen sound funky. But as you will discover by listening to this mix made for the radio, which contains excerpts of his new compilation “Junior Doctor Rockit”, he’s actually come out of his house and is off on the streets. And armed (with his sampler) he can be real dangerous ! Also on Wsound, his interview and the review of his last album.
I Cube explains in his interview for Wsound that he grew up with no television at home, and so he listened to a lot of radio. And that should give a new perspective on his futuristic soundscapes (his last musical trip is called “3”, out on the excellent Versatile label). This mix with its suggested bits of atmosphere catched here and there is not for hard workers. It will make you feel lazy. So take your time…
You might have expected some canadian jazz rock (as we did in the first place), but Manitoba, new electronica signing on the Leaf label, has also some phat beats to provide. That says it all. And don't forget the review of his debut album Start Breaking My Heart.
